What does the law say?
According to AFS 2006:6, a lifting device and lifting equipment may only be used by those who have documented knowledge for safe use. It is the employer who is responsible for ensuring that both their own and the hired staff have this training. The regulation also sets requirements for documented competence of the person who is the signalman. Likewise for the crane operator. The employer is also responsible for ensuring that there is a risk assessment regarding the use of lifting devices and lifting equipment in the workplace. This risk assessment is part of the preventive work in the workplace and it must be followed up regularly
